Making a documentary is like doing a mini thesis. It opens a pandora’s box of information, imagery and possibilities. The trick of course, is to remember the audio-visual story that one wants to make out of all this new found (and ever-expanding) knowledge. It’s always a great journey!

Tracy

My dream has been to watch Tracy Chapman perform live. I have memories from when I was six years old, singing her songs loud and clear, along with my mom, as she drove me to school. Both of us with big grins on our faces... the unending possibilities that lay awaiting us and Tracy's voice.

Watch the trailer for the documentary film 'Rup Rupantar'. It's a film about the vibrant life of Bahurupia folk artists, focusing on two men, Srihari Rai of West Bengal and Kishanji of Delhi. Both have persevered through all odds to preserve this art form with pride and passion.

A bit of comic wisdom

Bill waterson (creator of Calvin and Hobbes) admitted once that he had held quite an interest in art for many years and always had a sort of a bemused fascination with the amount of bullshit people built around it.

I often feel nowdays that this is a growing trend in the art/film circuit in the Indian cities as well.

Thought of the day

To remain in a state of sadness is the biggest form of self-indulgence.

Let this feeling wash over you

Let this feeling wash over you,
Seeping into the meshes of your being.
This feeling which wrenches away a huge void,
It reminds you of that nothingness and that nothingness pains.

Let the feeling wash over you,
The feeling that reminds you that you are real.
This feeling that at once reminds you of yourself and the minuteness of you
in all the vast intricacies of ones mind and soul.
